How to find senders with expiring ESP contracts.

When you’re trying to target prospects based on their installed technologies, wouldn’t it be helpful to know how long they’ve used those technologies, whether they’re on contract and, most importantly, when that contract comes up for renewal.

To put it differently, do you need to know when, for instance, a prospect’s contract with their current ESP expires? After all, if you’re targeting prospects of a service that has a 12-month contract, it’s probably a waste of time contacting those that are only in month 3 of that agreement.

Until now, that was far easier said than done. But in this post, we’re going to show how quickly this can be accomplished in Notablist.

The key is the Tecnology Loyalty filter, a feature we introduced just this past week. Its job is to show only those senders who’ve been with a particular ESP (or ad network, or CRM, etc) for a specific range of months. With this filter, it’s very easy to find just those prospects who’ll soon need to decide on whether to renew with their current ESP.

Let’s look at an example. Notablist makes it easy to create lists of customers using a particular ESP. Here’s a list of what you’ll get if you search our platform for senders using Salesforce Marketing Cloud:

Senders currently using Salesforce Marketing Cloud

That’s a juicy list of prospects, but wading through all 1600 is going to waste a lot of time because many won’t be at a point in their contract where it makes sense to even consider your solution. What you really want is a list of just those Salesforce Marketing Cloud customers that will soon be due for renewal.

So let’s save all that time we’d waste by chasing the wrong prospects. Let’s just search for only those senders that have been using Salesforce Marketing Cloud for 9, 10 or 11 months. The key to doing it is the new Technology Loyalty filter you’ll find on sender search result pages. To use it, just select the ESP or other technology you’d like to filter on, then select a range of months, like so:

Now Click Apply and you’ll see a much shorter list of senders, all of which have been using Salesforce for 9, 10 or 11 months:

Salesforce Marketing Cloud customers that will likely be up for contract renewal soon.

Take a look at the Technologies Used column. Adjacent to each of the technology names are numbers in parenthesis that represent the count of consecutive months the sender has used that particular technology.

For instance, the first entry in the list, Nordstrom, has been using Salesforce for 9 months. Let’s confirm that by looking at Nordstrom’s technology history:

Nordstrom switched from Responsys to Salesforce in late-2018 and may soon be coming up for contract renewal.

Sure enough: it looks like Nordstrom began sending with Salesforce beginning in October of 2018 — 9 months ago. If they’re on a 12-month agreement, now would be an excellent time to contact them.
